AI Literacy Allies (DBA Senior Safety Watch) - Receives Nonprofit Status, Expands Partnership with Futur1st to Scale AI Literacy and Scam Prevention Programs for Seniors

Bellingham, WA – October 24th, 2025 – AI Literacy Allies (DBA Senior Safety Watch), a volunteer-led initiative focused on AI literacy and digital safety for seniors and at-risk communities, today announced that it has officially become a nonprofit organization. With this milestone, Senior Safety Watch is expanding its collaboration with Futur1st™, an applied AI and digital transformation consulting firm, and actively recruiting additional volunteers to support its growing programs across North America.

Senior Safety Watch equips seniors, caregivers, and small community organizations with practical tools to recognize and respond to AI-enabled scams, high-pressure fraud, and other digital risks. Through live and virtual workshops, small-group training, and accessible resources, the organization helps participants understand how AI shows up in everyday interactions and how to stay safe without needing a technical background.

Nonprofit status will enable Senior Safety Watch to deepen partnerships with libraries, senior centers, community groups, and local agencies, while also opening new pathways for grants, sponsorships, and community support.

“Formal nonprofit status gives Senior Safety Watch the stability and structure we need to meet the scale of the problem,” said Erica Lamont, Founder of Futur1st and a core collaborator with Senior Safety Watch. “Scammers are rapidly adopting AI, and smaller communities are often the last to receive credible, accessible education. This step allows us to support more workshops, more caregivers, and more seniors with programs that are thoughtful, repeatable, and rooted in real-world use cases.”

“Our mission has always been to protect people, not to chase hype about technology,” said a spokesperson for Senior Safety Watch. “Becoming a nonprofit helps us build trust with partners and participants, and it also creates a clearer path for volunteers who want to lend their skills. We’re grateful to work with the community and Futur1st as we turn our best practices into structured programs that any community can adopt.”
